The traditional cleaning method of photovoltaic panels is manual cleaning, and the photovoltaic panels are washed and cleaned by manpower. This method is limited by artificial physical energy, also the cleaning efficiency is limited. The larger the PV plant, the longer it will take and there will be areas that are missed to be cleaned. Photovoltaic panel cleaning robots, through intelligent and scientific functional design, can effectively avoid such problems.
According to statistics, skilled cleaning workers can clean 100㎡per day, and a 1MW photovoltaic module covers about 6,600㎡. Therefore, at least 66 workers are required to clean every day. Based on an estimate of CNY200/person/day, the labor cost for cleaning a 1MW module is CNY13,200. If we estimate cleaning once a month, the annual labor cost for 1MW is CNY160,000. (Mops and buckets are not considered)
Advantages of manual cleaning: First of all, the water consumption is low, and the water consumption of 1MW per cleaning is about 1 ton. Secondly, manual cleaning can solve the employment problem of some people, and it can alleviate the employment pressure on one level.
Disadvantages of manual cleaning: For large-scale photovoltaic power plants, in order to shorten the time of cleaning, a large number of cleaning workers need to be hired, which is labor-intensive and difficult to manage; Secondly, there are still differences in the cleaning level of skilled cleaning team members, the cleaning process is not easy to control, resulting in diversified cleaning effects, and the cleanliness of photovoltaic panels is different; Thirdly, the improper operation in the process of manual cleaning will cause wear and tear on the module glass, affecting the light transmittance and life of photovoltaic panels, thereby affecting the power generation rate of photovoltaic power stations.

Runfeng Tech has developed a photovoltaic panel cleaning robot for panel cleaning in photovoltaic power stations. It can adapt to a variety of environments and power station types, such as ground power stations, fishery-solar complementary power stations, and distributed rooftop power stations.
