2. Level the instrument at point A not far from the crosshair. Use the center of the crosshair to aim at point C. Fix the horizontal brake handwheel with your toes. Raise the telescope so that the upper part D of the centering rod is near the horizontal wire. Command the centering rod. Only extend and retract the leg e to move D left and right to the center of the sighting crosshair. At this time, both points C and D should be on the center line of the crosshair.

3. Place the instrument to point B on the other cross line and use the same method. At this time, only extend and retract the leg f to make point D of the centering rod coincide with the center line of the crosshair at point C.

4. After the instrument has been calibrated at two points AB, the centering rod has become vertical. If the bubble of the circular level on the rod is deviated from the center at this time, adjust the three correction screws under the circular level to center the bubble.

5. Check again until the centering rod is vertical in both directions and the round bubble is centered.
